For sale, set of Bare Knuckle single coil Mothers Milk S pickups.
Cream covers, Zinc plated steel base plate on all 3 pickups, flat magnet profile, RW/RP middle pick up for hum cancelling in positions 2 and 4.
This set was installed in a guitar for a 2 days before being swapped for another Bare Knuckle set as the buyer of the guitar wanted a more modern high output/gain set rather than the vintage mid 60?s sound of the Mothers Milk set. So they are brand new with about an hour?s max playing time on them.
They are essentially a brand new set, comes with box, all stickers, BK coaster, installation instructions etc?
bright and punchy mid '60s voiced S coil set; solid bass response and a dynamic, woody character with fantastic snap in the high-end.
The Mother's Milk single coils are a combination of the larger diameter Alnico V magnetic rod of the late '50s and the introduction of 42AWG plain enamel wound coils with the CBS takeover at Fender. The hand-beveled magnets and scatter-wound coils produce a tighter, deeper bottom-end with clear, full highs that really sing when overdriven and never sound thin or brittle.
Mid range is hollow and woody with a little more grit and edge compared to Heavy Formvar wound coils for a crisp clean tone and more distinctive blues rock voice.
As with all the Strat sets the bridge coil is wound slightly hotter for improved balance; vintage cloth 'push back' hookup is standard, RWRP mid coil.
Zinc plated steel base plates for Strat coils add more bottom end definition, clarity and power to the coil. They work on the same principle as a Tele bridge base plate with tapped mounting holes so height adjustment screws thread directly into the base plate ensuring it will never fall off. The base plates are waxpotted with the coil to prevent microphonic feedback. Whilst it is most common to fit one to the bridge coil only, the zinc plated steel base plates work well on middle and neck coils too
